Little Africa: Reviews & Ratings
Very good! We tried the hot tea and guava juice. Both were perfect! Also had a cup of lentil soup and the platter for two with a little bit of everything. Everything was delicious and hit the spot. Also love that when you first walk in, you get hit with all the savory smells of food cooking. We were told everything on the menu was vegan as well. Highly recommend! Including a photo of the current menu!
Absolutely outstanding food! The woman who greeted us and served our food was so kind and warm. They have delicious food I cannot wait to go again and enjoy their food again. Definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone. We had a group of four and we shared a group platter which was amazing and I enjoyed the variety. And the bread used to eat it with was so good! Also, the tea was amazing as well. Little Africa Cuisine, Thank you for your hospitality and delicious soul warming food.
been here many times, best ethiopian i’ve had in all of michigan
An absolute Gem . This food is like eating hugs. It’s so comforting, fresh, & light on the stomach. Grab a cup of tea, try both the Tomato Soup & the Crushed Lentil Soup. Order the deluxe platter that comes with a bit of each dish off the menu. The Teff bread will make you rethink your life’s choices. Thank you to the Chef/Owner for an amazing eating experience each & every time we come inside.
One of the best restaurants in GR. The second you walk in, you are welcomed by the subtle, yet aromatic spices being used in the back to conjure up the exquisite flavors you’ll experience shortly. We got the deluxe combo and that came with a drink, soup and dinner for one (even though the main courses are all shared on one platter. The lentil soup is again so subtle but so flavorful. In total there were ten different items served as the main course alongside the bread. Each had their own flavor profile, from a bit spicy, tangy, garlicky, a bit sweet, and refreshing. The closet flavor comparison would be Indian, but very distant in its own. A must try! And it’s all vegan!
I visited Grand Rapids for the day and was excited to try Ethiopian food. My mom and stepdad are usually hesitant to try new cuisines, but I’m always up for something different. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by a kind and welcoming woman. We ordered the combo for two, lentil soup, and guava juice. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. My mom was blown away by the lentil soup—even without any meat, it was incredibly satisfying. Surprisingly, even my stepdad loved it so much that he ordered a second soup to go, along with extra bread and guava juice. Amazing hospitality and food! I’ll definitely be coming back.
One of my favorite spots in town. The soy curry has become my comfort food, it hits every time. Never been in? Bring friends and get the sample platter, it is delicious and great for a community meal.
